Real cards, live opponent
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is built around physical cards, so Top Down Tabletop does not replace them. You aim a top-down camera at your playmat and your opponent watches your side of the table live. The desktop app overlays health and status trackers on the video, which keeps damage and conditions visible to both players without pen and paper.
Why players love the Pokémon TCG
The Pokémon TCG has been played for decades, and it still balances easy-to-learn rules with deep deckbuilding. Evolving a Pokémon across turns, choosing when to take a Prize and racing your opponent to six make every game feel like a story. Collecting and competing go hand in hand, and a large organized play scene means there is always someone new to battle.
Quick Match, lobbies and Looking for Group
From the desktop app you can take a Quick Match with another player, create a lobby for a friend, or post in Looking for Group to find someone to battle. Online webcam games feed your record and rating, and the same app hosts Tournament: Online Play for organized events.
Pokémon pack, decks and rules reference
The Pokémon TCG pack brings a searchable card catalog of 17,006 cards, a rules reference and tracking tuned to the game, including Prize Cards. On the web you can build and manage decks in the deck builder. The catalog is there to help you look things up and organize your lists; the cards you play are always your own.
Best-of-3 at your local shop
Playing in person? The web companion on your phone tracks the game at the table, and organizers can run a Tournament: Local Play with Best-of-3 matches. Players report their own results from their phones, so the bracket and standings update without a clipboard.
Ratings that follow you
Pokémon TCG has its own ELO rating and leaderboard, with online and shop results tracked separately. Your profile shows your record and achievements, so a season of games builds into something you can look back on.
Prize cards and match length
Pokémon TCG is set up with a Prize Cards tracker that starts at six, so taking a Prize is a single tap instead of a spoken tally. Matches can be played as a single game or as Best-of-3, and the app includes a first-player coin flip, matching how Pokémon decides who goes first.
What you need to start
Bring your deck, a clear play area and a webcam positioned above it, then install the free Windows desktop app. Sign in, choose Quick Match or a lobby, and your opponent sees your table when the match begins. Every card on the table is your own.
